METHI  MASAL  VADAI

Channa Dhal
1 cup
Raw Rice
3 tsp
Onion( finely chopped)
 ½ cup
Methi  leaves(cut nicely)
½ cup
Green and Red chilli
One each
Garam Masala powder
1 tsp
Salt to taste

Oil
4 tbsn

1.     Wash and soak the dhal and rice together for one hour.
2.     Drain them completely.
3.     Grind them very coarsely adding salt and chilies.
4.     The batter should be ground tight without adding water.
5.     Add onion, methi leaves and garam masala powder and mix well.
6.     Place a broad based tawa on fire and make the batter into small patties like vadai and shallow fry them sprinkling oil on sides.
7.     Close the tawa while one side of the vadai is done.
8.     Turn the patties to the other side and fry till golden brown.
9.     Of course, I do agree that the taste will be only 75% of what it is when deep fried. But considering the oil point, it will taste really good.
10.                        Tomato sauce or coconut chutney will be an ideal side dish.
