Why a blog on GD?

I thought of writing something on diet for Gestational Diabetes (GD) when my daughter-in-law had GD last year. Being a vegetarian, she had very little choice when it came to American hospital diet. She was admitted in the hospital on the 26th week of gestation with high GD and for about 3 weeks, I had to manage her diet with proper calculation of carbohydrate, protein and fibre. With proper guidance and wonderful cooperation from her dietitian, we could keep her glucose level under control. She delivered a girl baby on her 29th week, and both mother and daughter are doing great today.

A WORD ABOUT BREAKFAST

A Word of caution for those who skip Breakfast

1. A husband can make out from an over irritated wife that she has skipped breakfast on that day and vice versa.
2. Breakfast reduces stress and improves mental and physical performance throughout the day.
3. Mothers who beat kids for silly things are ones who have skipped breakfast.
4. While looking for a stressful challenging day both in office and at home, try to face the day with a good breakfast, you will find the day pass by peacefully to your fullest satisfaction.
5. According to the Cognitive Effects of Breakfast study, 61%showed an improvement in English and arithmetic tests after eating.
6. Concentration in what you do throughout the day gets badly affected if you go without breakfast.
7. Research shows, those aged from 25 to 40 are particularly affected if they do not eat in the morning.
8. So give due respect to your breakfast, if you have get respect from your work. It is not that you must have a variety of food in the morning, but something reasonably of good quantity with good calorific value is a must to keep your temper cool throughout the day.
9. So husbands see to it that your wives take breakfast without fail, if you want their smiles all day through and so do the wives to have a tantrum free husbands.
