MASALA PUFFED RICE
A very light snack for the evening. One can eat stomach full without bothering much about calorie. It is a good snack of all time for diet conscious people.
Puffed Rice | 6 cups |
Dry roasted groundnut | 1 cup |
Fried gram( pottukadalai) | 1 cup |
Curry leaves | 1 cup |
Turmeric powder | 1 tsp |
Rasa powder | 2 tsp |
Asafoetida powder | 1 tsp |
Oil | 2 tbsn |
Salt as required | |
- Take a broad tawa and pour one tbsn of oil in it.
- Microwave the curry leaves for 2 minutes(by doing this, the leaves will not absorb oil much)
- Fry the curry leaves in the oil.
- Add the roasted groundnut, fried gram and just ½ tsp of salt.
- Fry these well and take out and keep.
- Pour the other tbsn of oil in the tawa and heat it.
- Add the turmeric, rasam powder and asafetida powder and roast them a little in low fire.
- Add the puffed rice to it and fry the rice in low fire till the puffed rice becomes very crisp.
- Add the groundnut, fried gram and curry leaves to the puffed rice and mix very well.
- Allow it to cool and store in an airtight container. This will be fresh and crisp for even 10 days.
Note: One can calculate the calorific value from the table given underneath. Usually, one cup of masala puffed rice will have 20 gms of groundnut and 20 gms of fried gram. So do some calculation for the calories.
