Why a blog on GD?

I thought of writing something on diet for Gestational Diabetes (GD) when my daughter-in-law had GD last year. Being a vegetarian, she had very little choice when it came to American hospital diet. She was admitted in the hospital on the 26th week of gestation with high GD and for about 3 weeks, I had to manage her diet with proper calculation of carbohydrate, protein and fibre. With proper guidance and wonderful cooperation from her dietitian, we could keep her glucose level under control. She delivered a girl baby on her 29th week, and both mother and daughter are doing great today.

A QUICK BISI BELA

A QUICK AND EASY BISI BELA
Hope you remember the carrot - onion masala sambar I posted in my blog Let’s Eat Healthy easygddiet.blogspot.com two days back. Having that as base you can make a wonderful bisi bela bath in no time. Let us go to procedure:
1.Make the Masala sambar with two or three vegetables more like green peas, beans etc along with carrot and onion. Keep it ready.
2.In the pressure cooker cook one cup of rice and 1/2 cup of toor dal together with one tomato.
3. When the rice and dal are done, keep a kadai on stove, pour 3 tsp of ghee season a handful of cashew and raisins, one tsp of coriander powder and one tsp of jeera powder and add the cooked rice and dal to it.
4. Add required quantity of sambar to it and mix well when the rice is hot. It will blend together very well and your BISI BELA bath is ready in no time.
5. Just a change from regular sambar sadam with the same sambar and sadam. 😊 Enjoy with cucumber raitha.
