Why a blog on GD?

I thought of writing something on diet for Gestational Diabetes (GD) when my daughter-in-law had GD last year. Being a vegetarian, she had very little choice when it came to American hospital diet. She was admitted in the hospital on the 26th week of gestation with high GD and for about 3 weeks, I had to manage her diet with proper calculation of carbohydrate, protein and fibre. With proper guidance and wonderful cooperation from her dietitian, we could keep her glucose level under control. She delivered a girl baby on her 29th week, and both mother and daughter are doing great today.

Healthiest Multigrain Adai.

Healthiest Multi grain Adai
Ingredients— Take a handful each of all grains in your house(toor dhal, urad dhal, bengalgram dhal, moong dhal, raw rice, boiled rice, horsegram, brown small chana dhal, sabudana, poha, white or red and whatever millets available in your store room, ) each just one handful, soak all of them together with just one teaspoon of fenugreek. Let them soak for about two hours. Grind them a little coarse lay adding, coconut, salt coriander and curry leaves. To the coarse batter add one cup of minced onion and if you like carrot also.
Keep a dosai tawa on stove and spread like regular Adai. The result is simply wonderful, so tasty and healthy. A good sambar or tomato chutney will be a good partner.Enjoy
