Why a blog on GD?

I thought of writing something on diet for Gestational Diabetes (GD) when my daughter-in-law had GD last year. Being a vegetarian, she had very little choice when it came to American hospital diet. She was admitted in the hospital on the 26th week of gestation with high GD and for about 3 weeks, I had to manage her diet with proper calculation of carbohydrate, protein and fibre.With proper guidance and wonderful cooperation from her dietitian, we could keep her glucose level under control. She delivered a girl baby on her 29th week, and both mother and daughter are doing great today.

SOME HEALTH DRINKS

         
     
INSTANT BADAM BOOSTER FOR GD WOMEN

  1. Powder the almonds nicely with some strands of saffron and a tsp of cardamom powder and keep in the fridge.
  2. Boil the milk and take it hot or cold.
  3. If preferable, can powder some cashew and groundnut along with the badam for extra nutrition.
  4. Take a tablespoon of this powder, mix it with a full glass of milk and add a tsp of honey and drink at night before going to bed.
  5. This is an excellent nutrient drink not only for diabetic  ladies, but also for school going kids, if they are not allergic to nuts.

BADAM  MULTI  VEG  COOLER

  1. Keep the above badam powder handy.
  2. Take a small piece each of beetroot, carrot, apple, orange, cucumber and watermelon.
  3. Grind all these raw in the mixer and mix one tsp of badam powder and one tsp of honey and beat once in the mixie and drink instead of evening snack.
  4. A wonderful healthy instant drink for school going kids who refuse to eat fruits and vegetables.
