Why a blog on GD?

I thought of writing something on diet for Gestational Diabetes (GD) when my daughter-in-law had GD last year. Being a vegetarian, she had very little choice when it came to American hospital diet. She was admitted in the hospital on the 26th week of gestation with high GD and for about 3 weeks, I had to manage her diet with proper calculation of carbohydrate, protein and fibre. With proper guidance and wonderful cooperation from her dietitian, we could keep her glucose level under control. She delivered a girl baby on her 29th week, and both mother and daughter are doing great today.

OATS -- RAWA DOSA

Oats Rawa Dosa
Oats. -- one cup(powder it nicely)
Rice flour --1/2 cup
Corn flour-- one tablespoon
Fine Rawa -- 1/2 cup
Pepper jeera granules - one tsp
Green chilli -- 2 ( cut into tiny pieces)
Ginger ground - 1/2 tsp

Oil -- 3 tsp
Onion (chopped nicely) --1/2 cup
Curry and coriander leaves a handful
Broken cashew pieces a handful

Mix all together and let the batter be very thin and flowey.
Let it stand for an hour for the rawa to get soaked well.
Then spread the batter on a non stick dosa tawa lightly like ordinary rawa dosa, sprinkle a tsp of ghee and turn sides and take out golden brown.
Coconut chutney and sambar are good side dishes.
